Clearing a house you have lived in for twenty or thirty years is not a weekend job and pretending otherwise is how people end up overwhelmed and stopping. So this list starts in the rooms that carry no memories. The linen closet and the pantry are easy decisions, and making a hundred easy decisions first is what makes the hard ones possible later. One room a day is a perfectly good pace. Most of my downsizing clients start months before they list, and the ones who start earliest enjoy it most.
