What we do with what you tell us.

Short version. I collect your details so I can answer you about property. I do not sell them, I do not trade them, and if you want to come off my list I will take you off it the day you ask.

What this website collects

What you type into it, and a record that the visit happened. The site asks you for nothing unless you choose to fill something in.

When you do fill something in, that is normally:

• Your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number.
• Whatever you chose or typed. If you signed in at an open house that includes your answers about timing, whether you are working with an agent and whether you have a home to sell.
• Which page you sent it from, so I know what you were looking at.

Where it goes

Into Follow Up Boss, the customer system my office and I use to keep track of the people we are helping. It does not go anywhere else. It is not sold, rented or passed to a data broker, and it is not used to build an advertising profile of you.

It is visible to me and to the people who work with me at CK Real Estate Services. Follow Up Boss, as the company running that software, holds it on my behalf.

Text messages

I will only text you about property if you ticked the box asking me to. Agreeing is never a condition of seeing a home or getting an answer, and you can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP. Your carrier may charge you for messages at their usual rates.

Measuring how the site is used

I use Google Analytics to see which pages people actually read and which ones lead somewhere useful. It tells me things like how many people opened the downsizing page this month, roughly what part of the world they were in, and whether they arrived from a search or a link. It does not tell me who you are.

It is set up deliberately narrowly. The advertising parts of Google Analytics are switched off on this site: no ad storage, no ad personalisation, and none of what Google calls Signals, which is the feature that would otherwise connect a visit here to somebody’s signed-in Google account. That means I am measuring my own website, not using Google to build an advertising profile of you.

If you would rather not be counted at all, Google publishes a browser add-on that turns it off everywhere: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Most browsers also have a Do Not Track or tracking-protection setting, and blocking it will not break anything on this site.

Advertising on Facebook and Instagram

This site carries the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from the company behind Facebook and Instagram. When you open a page here, it tells Meta that the visit happened and which page it was. If you are signed in to Facebook or Instagram in the same browser, Meta can connect that visit to your account.

I use it for two things: to see whether an ad I ran actually brought someone here, and to show my ads to people who have already visited. That means you may see something from me on Facebook or Instagram after you have been on this site. If you ask for my guide, it also tells Meta that someone signed up, but not your name, your email or anything else you typed.

You can turn this off. Meta lets you control it in your ad settings, and you can opt out of this kind of advertising across many companies at optout.aboutads.info. A browser with tracking protection will block it too, and blocking it will not break anything on this site.

What your browser keeps

The open house sign-in saves each sign-in on the device it was typed on until it has been safely sent, so that a weak signal in a house cannot lose somebody. That copy stays in that browser and nowhere else.

Google Analytics sets a cookie on your device so that two visits from the same browser are not counted as two different people. That one is not used for advertising. The Meta Pixel, described above, sets a cookie of its own, and that one is.

How long it is kept

For as long as I am working with you, or might reasonably still be helping you find or sell a home. If you ask me to delete it, I will. Some records of completed transactions have to be kept for longer because California real estate law requires it.

Asking to see it, change it or delete it

Email cheri@ckteamrealestate.com or ring (916) 296 4953 and say what you want. You can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, and ask me to stop contacting you. You will not be treated any differently for asking.

Children

This site is not meant for anyone under sixteen and I do not knowingly collect anything from them.

The date at the top of this page changes with it, so you can always tell whether you are reading the current version.
