Twenty eight years of Shelties.
I have raised Shetland Sheepdogs for more than twenty eight years. That is long enough to have watched a few of them grow old, and long enough to know exactly what it costs to look after one properly when something goes wrong.
Not every dog lands somewhere that can do that. Some end up in a shelter at eight years old because somebody's health changed, or because a family moved and the new place said no dogs. I have spent my whole career helping people through the exact kind of change that sometimes ends with a dog in a crate at a shelter, so it did not feel like much of a leap to send part of every sale to the people who pick those dogs up.
